Who handles your information
Macsential is operated by Nguyen Truong Duy. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@macsential.com. This policy covers our macOS app and macsential.com.
Your work stays on your Mac
Macsential processes the files you open, recordings, audio, camera video, and edits on your Mac. These files are not uploaded to our servers for processing. Recordings and project data, including pointer events and transcripts, are saved locally. On-device transcription requires a supported on-device speech recognizer.
Screen, microphone, camera, and accessibility access depend on permissions you control in macOS. You can change those permissions in System Settings. Deleting local recordings, projects, and exported files is under your control. Files you voluntarily attach to a support email are shared with us.
Licenses and purchases
When you request a free license, buy, renew, activate, or recover a license, our service handles your email address, order and payment references, amounts and currency, license status, update eligibility, and activation history. Activation uses a fingerprint of an app-generated device public key and may include your Mac’s label. We use this to issue licenses, enforce one active Mac, move activations, recover access, and process refunds.
License keys and device private keys are stored in the Mac’s Keychain. Our backend stores a keyed hash for license-key lookup. Email delivery may temporarily hold a license key or recovery token; delivered email payloads are cleared from the delivery queue. License checks and update downloads contact online services, whose infrastructure receives the associated network requests.
Payment and infrastructure providers
Paddle handles international checkout, billing details, payment methods, tax, and refunds as merchant of record. We receive transaction references and payment status needed to fulfill your license; our licensing backend does not receive your full card number. See Paddle’s Privacy Policy for its processing.
Vietnam bank-transfer payments use SePay for confirmation. The transfer QR service receives the payment reference, amount, and receiving bank details. Our backend uses transaction references and amounts to match the transfer to your order.
Cloudflare hosts our site, licensing database, downloads, and transactional email service. It processes network and request information, such as IP address, browser information, request time, and country, to deliver and secure the service. Country information selects regional pricing. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures website visits and performance. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. Service providers may process information outside your country.
Browser storage and support
The website remembers your language in local storage and a language cookie. Checkout uses session storage to resume your pending order in the same browser session. Payment providers may use their own storage during checkout. You can clear browser storage through your browser settings; this may reset preferences or interrupt a pending checkout.
If you contact support, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send. We use them to respond and resolve your request. We do not use your recordings or files for advertising.
Why we keep information, and your choices
We use service information to provide the app and licenses you request, fulfill purchases, provide support, prevent abuse, keep the service secure, and meet applicable legal obligations. We retain purchase and license records as needed to support perpetual licenses, recovery, refunds, and accounting obligations. Security logs and support records are retained as needed for their operational purpose. Payment providers apply their own retention policies.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your personal information, or object to or restrict certain processing. Email hello@macsential.com. We may need to verify that a request relates to your license. Some records must be retained for legal obligations; removing licensing information may prevent us from providing activation or recovery. You may also contact your local data protection authority where applicable.
We will post policy updates here with a new effective date.
